Farkle: Game of luck, strategy and risk-taking

Farkle: (How Joey and Bernie play it.)

You will need:

6 dice

Paper and pen to keep score

The rules are simple providing the perfect mix of (mostly) luck, strategy and risk-taking.

Objective:

The player with the highest score above 10,000 points on the final round of play wins!

How to Play Farkle:

Each player takes turns rolling the dice. When it’s your turn, you roll all six dice at the same time.

Getting no points on any throw is a Farkle. Get 3 FARKLES IN A ROW and you LOSE 1000 points.

Points are earned every time you roll a 1 or 5 see dice combo point scoring below.

If none of your dice earned points, that’s a Farkle! Since you earned no points, you pass the dice to the next player.

If you rolled at least one scoring die you continue to roll with remainder of dice until you EITHER get 350 MINIMUM points to take SCORE in that round and pass the dice to the next player, OR risk the points you just earned during the round by putting some or all of the point die (dice) aside and continue rolling the remaining dice to EARN MORE POINTS AND/OR RISK getting a Farkle.

Rolling the remaining dice may earn you additional points, but if you Farkle, you lose everything you earned during the round.

Your points from that round are added to your total score. Unless you Farkled, then you get a “F” for that round. ATTENTION: Get 3 FARKLES IN A ROW and you LOSE 1000 points.

Then the next player rolls the six dice until they get MINIMUM of 350 points or more and Pass or Farkle. Note: If ALL DICE in that throw are POINTS you GET A FREE BONUS THROW (no risk but IF you continue to roll and Farkle you lose everything you earned during the round)

Play continues until it is your turn again.

The final round starts as soon as any player reaches 10,000 or more points. The player with the highest score above 10,000 points on the final round of play wins!

Farkle Scoring:

500 points MINIMUM to GET INTO THE GAME and start earning points.
MINIMUM of 350 points total for dice in each round to earn those points.

How to count points:

ONES : 100
FIVES : 50
3 ONES : 1000
3 TWOS : 200
3 THREES : 300
3 FOURS : 400
3 FIVES : 500
3 SIXES : 600
3 PAIRS : 1500
2 TRIPLETS : 2500
4 OF A KIND : 1000
5 OF A KIND : 2000
6 OF A KIND : 3000
STRAIGHT (1-2-3-4-5-6) : 1500

Penalties:

3 FARKLES IN A ROW : Lose 1000
If you Farkle in any round you lose everything you earned during that round.
